Date: June 8, 2020 – June 12, 2020
Time: 10 am – 12 pm
Min age: 11+

Ready to build a game from the ground up? In this camp, students will focus on using Construct 3, a fun and flexible game building platform, to rapidly create fun and modern 2D games for any web browser. They’ll learn everything needed to quickly bring a web browser game from concept to completion, learning things like event-driven code and physics based movement along the way. From start to finish, this camp will introduce students to the concepts they will need to create video games on a professional level!

What will students learn?
Students will be introduced to the Construct 3 Integrated Development Environment (IDE), and learn to program games visually using object-oriented programming concepts. As they build their game, they’ll learn the importance of a properly designed game flow, explore physics based movement, and learn to create custom solutions to their development needs.

Who is the course appropriate for? This camp is designed for older beginners and intermediate level students who have been successful with Scratch programming and love making games. During the first day of camp, we'll assess students and divide the camp into groups based on age and experience level.

What will campers "take home?"

Campers will end the week with a better understanding of key programming concepts, vocabulary, and projects to share.

What time do campers meetup online?
The best of Codecraft summer camps, meeting at 10 AM EST, two hours daily for one week. Broken down into bite sized chunks, small groups of campers meet online to work together on fun and focused computer science projects.

How many campers in each online session?

To provide a premium learning experience we keep camps exclusive. With up to just 8 campers, our Instructors can help the campers get to know each other and the material. We aren’t new to this. As researchers backed by the National Science Foundation, Codecraft Works has been developing the best experiences and discovering how to balance our desires for socialization and impactful, synchronous instruction, for years now.

How does online summer camp work?

Codecraft camps online strive to provide a classic summer camp experience, without a highway commute! Campers join small groups and a Codecraft Instructor each day and develop computer science skills, new friends, and explore technology. We take a little time for brain breaks, encourage group collaboration, and foster socialization to complement the learning experience. During the week, they’re guided through building and iterating individual projects, culminating in a demo of their work for friends and family at the end of the camp. Participation develops both technical and soft skills, beneficial for future confidence and communication.
