About the Job
Part-time schedule, summer internship, fully remote position.
We are seeking passionate individuals to provide and support learn-to-code, cybersecurity, or behavioral science programs for kids and teens (10 – 18). All classes are taught online, so you will be working remotely and utilizing a virtual classroom environment. Class schedules vary, but typically 5 meetings per week, with approximately 5 – 9 students per TA.
Codecraft will provide you with structured curriculum, project examples, and an online teaching platform. The primary role of a Codecraft Works TA is to support curriculum delivery in an engaging and inspirational way, and to ultimately be responsible for student engagement and parent or partner satisfaction. All of your work, from your interactions with students and their parents or with our partners, to your classroom management and coding knowledge, will have a direct and visible impact on our customers and community. Your work matters and helps your students build meaningful skills for their future!
Responsibilities
- Deliver the curriculum in a fun and engaging way
- Proactively check in on students, track their progress and remove barriers to learning
- Provide regular student progress updates and/or share student project examples
- Provide feedback for curriculum improvement
- Engage with teacher partners, and parents as needed
- Positively advocate for Codecraft Works and the benefits of learning to code
- When interested, support and or contribute to other software, curriculum, or tech process and development opportunities within the company as time and or schedule permit
Requirements
- Experience with 1 or more of the coding languages we teach (JavaScript, Python, Java) OR Experience in psychology, behavioral science or neuroscience
- Experience leading, teaching, or mentoring peers, kids or teens
- Experience or training in Design Thinking preferred
- Interest in applying science to help students reinforce purpose and build resilience
- Newer, working and reliable computer with a modern browser, microphone headset, web camera, and reliable, high-speed internet access
- A quiet workspace free of distractions
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Ability to pass a level 2 background check, if requested

What programming languages do coding instructors teach?
Our curriculum is quite broad-based. We are looking for coding instructors who can teach any of the following – Blockly, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Python, or Java, and/or experience or understanding of web accessibility standards.
How much is my compensation?
You will be paid $16-20 per hour with potential for training stipend, and bonuses or promotions based on student and parent satisfaction.
How many classes might I be teaching?
This varies greatly depending on your availability and experience.
What does a typical schedule look like?
Summer classes take place in June, July, and sometimes August. The highest availability of summer classes is between 9 am – 5:30pm EST Monday – Friday, however additional classes may be available for evening and weekends. We are expanding to an international audience. Candidates who are bilingual, or can work late night, early morning are also encouraged to apply.
